School Dress
(NB It is not the policy of the Education Committee to make compulsary the wearing of any distinctive clothing or uniform; but all pupils are required to attend school appropriatly dressed and for the assistance of parents many schools have adopted their own guidelines on dress).
The question of school dress has received careful consideration by parents, teachers and governors. It has been decided that parents who wish to do so should consider the school colours of scarlet and grey when purchasing school clothes. Many parents send their children to school wearing grey skirts, tunics or trousers and scarlet jumpers or cardigans or sweatshirts. Scarlet ties with elasticated neck bands are availablefor purchase from the School Office, price £1.50 each. Sweatshirts printed with the school emblem are availiable from the school price £10.00 each. We ask that ALL clothing is clearly marked with the child's name. Woven name labels may be ordered through the school.

Naming Your Child's Property
Please name all your child's property and clothing; this helps us greatly and reduces the possibility of clothes being taken by mistake. Order forms for sew-on name labels are available from the school office.
Toys and Personal "Treasures"
Initially young children may find it comforting to bring a special toy to school. However, when your child is ready to do so, please encourage him/her to leave very special toys at home; many tears are shed if "treasures" are lost or broken.
The wearing of jewellery is not encouraged because of the problem of loss or damage and also because it can be a danger to children. In particular, earrings for pierced ears are strongly discouraged; while studs can be left in for Physical Education, any other type of ear-rings must be removed.
Bags and Lunch Boxes
When choosing a school bag or lunch box for your child, please bear in mind that space in cloakrooms and cupboards is limited. Large back packs and lunch boxes cause considerable problems.

Physical Education Clothes
It is preferable for pupils to do Physical Education in bare feet. They change into black shorts and a white T-shirt for all such activities. Pumps should also be available for outdoor games. Please provide PE equipment in a named cloth bag which can be hung on your child's coat peg. (Please note: Long trousers are not acceptable for PE).
Book Bags
When your child first joins the family of Foley Infants they recieve a special book bag bearing their own name and school logo. These bags , bought by the PTA, are designed to ensure that reading books are kept clean and dry on the journey to and from school. Replacement book bags can be purchased for £2 each from school.
